Cement Board Stucco Contractor Edmonton & Alberta for Lasting Exterior Protection

Met Exteriors installs cement board stucco systems for commercial, multi-family and residential buildings in Edmonton and across Alberta. These assemblies combine a durable cement-board substrate with properly detailed air and moisture control, reinforced base coats and architectural acrylic finishes. When designed and installed as a complete wall assembly, cement board stucco provides a robust exterior option for Alberta conditions and can also support thin brick and adhered stone finishes where specified.

Cement Board Stucco Wall Assembly:

Cement Board Substrate: A strong and stable base that provides a solid foundation for the entire system.
Air & Moisture Barrier: Prevents water intrusion, protecting the structure from moisture damage.
Reinforced Base Coat: Enhances strength and stability for long-term performance.
Polymer-Based Finish: Available in various textures and colors to achieve the desired aesthetic.
Integrated Drainage System: Designed to prevent water from penetrating behind the cladding in frame construction, ensuring the integrity of the wall assembly.

Commercial, Multi-Family & Residential Applications:

Cement board provides an excellent substrate for many in-demand exterior applications, including:
Cement Board Masonry Veneer Wall System (CBMV) Cement Board Stucco System (CBSS) Continuous Insulation (CI) Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS)
PermaBASE Cement Board allows the combination of multiple exterior finishes on one continuous wall sheathing, providing greater design flexibility and enhancing the overall functionality of the system. Additionally, thin brick veneer and stone can be installed directly over cement board, offering even more options for architectural styling.

Benefits of Cement Board Stucco Systems:

Faster Installation: Quicker to install than traditional stucco, minimizing disruptions.
Durability & Weather Resistance: Resists moisture, cracking, warping, and insect damage for a longer-lasting exterior.
Fire Performance: Cement board is non-combustible, but the fire performance of an exterior wall depends on the complete tested assembly, including framing, insulation, membranes, attachments and finishes. Project requirements should follow the applicable code, design documents and manufacturer specifications.
Woodpecker-Proof: Unlike traditional stucco and wood-based siding, cement board stucco prevents damage from woodpeckers and other pests.

Installation & Building-Envelope Detailing:

Follow the finish material manufacturer’s instructions for proper installation.
Treat all joints with a minimum 4″ mesh tape and base coat. When applying exterior finishes directly to PermaBASE Cement Board, reinforcing mesh must be embedded in the base coat (consult the exterior finish manufacturer for any additional installation requirements).
For conventional portland cement plaster systems, a self-furring metal lath must be installed over the PermaBASE Cement Board and securely fastened to the studs.
A code-approved water/air-resistive barrier (WRB) must be installed first to protect the wall cavity. The type and placement of this barrier will vary based on local building codes, manufacturer specifications, installation guidelines, and applicable warranties.
To ensure proper application and long-term performance, all installations must strictly follow the manufacturer’s specifications. Applicators should adhere to industry best practices to fully realize the system’s benefits.
